Cable tester is used to measure the continuity of LAN cabling. It gives the ability to detect faulty connections, short circuits and breaks in the cabling. With its help it is possible to test connections made with twisted-pair UTP, FTP terminated with RJ45 plugs and telephone cable terminated with RJ11 connector. The device consists of two main parts and a terminator mounted on the two ends of the tested cable section. It has one function button, which can be used to select one of two operating modes. When the device is turned on, the tester automatically begins to check each wire separately, and in the case of FTP cables, the correctness of the connection of the shield to the modular plug. It is also possible to manually set the test of each wire in turn. To change the basic mode in which the device operates, hold down the function button for about 2 seconds. In this mode, the function button must be pressed once to switch to testing the next conductor. The result of the tests is indicated by lit LEDs.
