IP DS-7608NI-K2/8P by Hikvision is an 8-channel DVR. It allows recording video from IP cameras of up to 8 Mpix resolution. The DVR has a built-in 8-port PoE switch for direct connection and powering of IP cameras. There are also 2 built-in SATA ports which allows to connect hard drives of up to 6 TB capacity. It is possible to connect two monitors thanks to independent HDMI(max. 4K) and VGA(max. 1080p) outputs. In addition, support for NAS/IP SAN network storage arrays is supported. Built-in USB ports allow you to plug in a flash drive or external drive and copy specific ones. When the memory is overflowing, the recorder automatically starts overwriting, so you don't lose the latest data.

Data compression
Local recording and network transmission can be done in H.265+, H.265, H.264+, H.264, MJPEG compression standards. The H.265 standard allows, compared to H.264, to halve the data stream and disk capacity requirements. This allows you to use hard drives with half the capacity or store recordings twice as long. The H.265+ and H.264+ standards are compression methods developed by Hikvision, based on H.265 and H.264 compressions, which have been optimized for use in CCTV surveillance systems. Their use further reduces the data stream compared to H.265, H.264. To use any available compression method, it must be supported by the connected cameras. The compression method can be specified individually, for each channel.

Software
Connectivity to the DVR can be established via a web browser or through free client software iVMS 4200 (computers) or iVMS 4500, Hik-Connect (smartphones). The device can also be accessed via two free cloud-based services: Ezviz and Hik-Connect, which is the successor to the HikDDNS service.

The iVMS 4200 client software is used to view, supervise and configure Hikvision analog DVRs, network DVRs and IP cameras (allows the creation of a hybrid system) via the network. The application allows you to manage up to 256 devices on up to 4 monitors. One screen can display images from up to 64 cameras. In addition to viewing and configuration, it allows, among other things, remote playback of recordings, display of alarm messages, two-way audio transmission, use of multi-level e-maps for viewing

Mobile application
iVMS-4500 is a mobile application, designed for cell phones based on Android, iOS and Windows Phone operating systems. It can be used to remotely view live video from DVRs, NVRs, network cameras using Wi-Fi, 2G or 3G networks, as well as to view recordings stored on the DVR A free service called Hik-Connect is available for the device, allowing full remote access to the camera/recorder in case of a floating IP address or using a domain address via a web browser. To use it, it is required to create a Hik-Connect account and add the device to it. The service allows connection via www, PC application or smartphone.
